Chievo have officially appointed Rolando Maran as their new Coach after sacking Eugenio Corini.

The decision was made following a 3-0 defeat to Roma on Saturday, though had to wait until Maran had terminated his contract with Catania – who fired him last season.

Maran will be presented to the media on Tuesday afternoon.

“It is very emotional for me to take on this club,” Maran told the official Chievo website.

“It’s a double joy considering I spent almost my entire playing career at Chievo Verona. I chose to accept this position because speaking with President Luca Campedelli and director of sport Luca Nember I saw the great unity and shared ideas of what they want to achieve.

“When these elements are in place, you can work well.”

Maran started playing for Chievo when they were in Serie C2 in 1986, making 330 appearances for the club, many of them as captain.

He has already been on the Flying Donkeys bench as assistant manager to Silvio Baldini in 1997-98 in Serie B.
