Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi insists he doesn’t regret his career-long loyalty with the Giallorossi.

The Italy international has spent 14 years at the club, and is adamant he doesn’t regret showing such commitment to the capital club, despite reportedly rejecting numerous offers through the years.

“When there were offers, I wasn’t making decisions based on ambition,” De Rossi told a Press conference ahead of his side’s Champions League game with Bayern Munich.

“Not that Roma didn’t have ambition, but I turned down even more ambitious projects. It was not the desire to win the Champions League that made me stay.

“What I’m experiencing now is the highest level I’ve felt with Roma.

“We aren’t the strongest team, but I think we’re getting stronger with strong teammates, a very strong Coach and a very strong club. I couldn’t be happier anywhere else.”

Despite the calibre of opposition represented by the German Champions, De Rossi believes Roma can progress.

“I’m convinced we can go through. I can see this from the way we dealt with the first two games even though we were outsiders.

“Playing with joy is what we do best, whilst in the League we have been playing well, and once you step out on the pitch you go out there to win.

“We have players who are only enjoying their first Champions League experience, but they have a lot of international experience and some have been to the World Cup.

“We want to progress, and we can do it.”
