Gasperini slammed the attitude of some Genoa fans after the match, but his President has looked to play down the incident.

“There may have been a little bit of irritation,” Preziosi told Il Secolo XIX.

“After drawing a game because of an irregular goal this reaction is normal.

“It’s understandable. We’re not going to make a controversy out of it, and the matter is closed.”

Genoa currently lie 10th in Serie A, and following the Week 7 draw rumours began to circulate that the notoriously trigger-happy Preziosi may replace Gasperini with former Rossoblu Coach Davide Ballardini.

“These rumours are nonsense. Let’s leave Gasperini to do his work. We can only improve, we just need a little time.

“If I wanted Ballardini I wouldn’t have gotten rid of him twice.”
