Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero defended his racist gaffe about Inter patron Erick Thohir.

Ferrero had told reporters he had told previous Nerazzurri owner Massimo Moratti to “kick out that Filipino…”

Inter President Thohir is a businessman from Indonesia who already owns MLS club DC United.

“It was only a joke and it was used for other reasons,” Ferrero insisted on Radio Centro Suono Sport.

“Agnelli said worse than I did, but nobody did anything because he’s got the papers behind him.

“I think Thohir is a very intelligent man and have nothing against him. I just wanted to defend Moratti, who is a great man and gave so much to Italian football.

“Moratti won a great deal and invested even more. I just wanted to defend Italianness.”

The 'Agnelli joke' also sparked a row between Juventus” data-scaytid=”28″>Juventus and Inter last week.
