Ignazio Abate believes Milan must rediscover a sense of humility after being crushed at home by Palermo.

Filippo Inzaghi’s side went down 2-0 to the Rosanero at San Siro on Sunday night, the first time Palermo had won away from home this season, and Abate believes Milan’s attitude is to blame for the defeat.

“It was one of the worst games this year,” the full-back admitted to Sky.

“We have to retrace our steps and rediscover our heart and humility.

“We let our guard down, and that’s not good. We needed to display the provincial mentality that we had before.”

Milan Coach Inzaghi was whistled by sections of the Rossonero support after the game, but Abate insists it’s the players who should take the heat.

“The boss is a great man, and always makes us face up to our responsibilities.

“It’s the team’s fault, not his.”
