“Zdenek Zeman’s teams always deserve special attention when you face them, as they have such a specific way of playing,” noted Coach Gasperini in a Press conference.

“These are difficult games and open to any outcome. I don’t think we will change our attitude, as after all we’ve got results against talented opponents before. I expect a spectacular game, but the first rule is to take your chances.

“We approach this match with great confidence and want to make the most of this positive period. The three consecutive victories without doubt got us more attention, but I think the team was doing well even before that run.

“Now we want to end this fantastic streak on a high before the break for international duty.”

It is a very special game at the Sant’Elia for Alessandro Matri and Mauricio Pinilla, both ex-Cagliari stars.

“They are the emblem of this Genoa team spirit,” continued Gasperini. “They can play on their own, as a pair or with other teammates. At times people try to make some situations look more complicated than they really are.

“I choose my line-up based on the game, the training sessions and the situations around them.”

Sebastian De Maio, Ioannis Fetfatzidis and Tomas Rincon are out of action.

Genoa squad for Cagliari: Perin, Antonini, Izzo, Burdisso, Pinilla, Perotti, Antonelli, Roncaglia, Marchese, Lestienne, Greco, Edenilson, Lamanna, Falque, Matri, Kucka, Mandragora, Sommariva, Sturaro, Rosi, Bertolacci, Mussis
