Marco Verratti will be allowed to stay with the Italy squad after being given the all-clear by medical staff.

The midfielder did not train with the rest of the team today and was instead subjected to a series of tests at a clinic in Florence.

Antonio Conte had hinted that the Paris Saint-Germain man could be sent back to France depending on those tests, but the Italian Football Federation have reported results that serve to allay any fears of a potential groin injury.

“The boy is suffering from insertional tendinitis to his left groin,” revealed Azzurri head doctor Enrico Castellazzi.

“The tests that were carried out showed no muscle injury. He will now follow a programme of physical therapy and be constantly monitored over the next few days.”

At Coverciano, the rest of the Italy players were put through their paces under some light rain in their first training session ahead of matches against Croatia and Albania.

After doing some gym work and a few laps around the training pitch, the team engaged in some athletic exercises before being given a tactics drill.
