Roma striker Mattia Destro has admitted that he is 'very pleased' by rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal.

The attacker has floated in and out of Giallorosso first-team contention this season, leading to speculation that the 23-year-old may seek pastures new once the transfer window reopens.

Destro has today openly taken solace from the links with the English giants but maintained that he was enjoying his development under Coach Rudi Garcia.

“They are wonderful rumours, I'm very pleased because it means that I've taken the right path [in my career],” he confessed to Roma Radio.

“There are so many things that I can improve on. I must never stop and continue to learn new things.

“The Coach encourages me a lot, and I try to show my skills on the pitch, as well as the confidence he has in me.”

Destro then moved on to the importance of scoring goals, his attitude, which has come in for criticism at times, and Italy prospects.

“For a striker, scoring goals is their life, the most important thing. If you don't score, it's a problem,” he continued.

“I think about it every minute of the day. A goal is my primary objective, then there's the team's victory and the three points.

“I make funny faces, I want to score goals, but I don't do it with malice. It makes me angry [when I'm criticised], but I give my answers on the field.

“People say that I'm lazy and have a bad temper. I know what I am, I want to show and do so much. Sometimes I'm hurt by the comments, I always try to give 100 per cent.

“I'm sorry that I'm not there [with Italy], but I will do my best to convince Mr. Conte.”
