Daniele De Rossi admits Italy “have to work on our possession play” after a 1-1 draw with Croatia.

Despite being on home turf at San Siro, the Azzurri had only 38 per cent possession in this Euro 2016 qualifier.

“The draw is a good result and Croatia are on our level. We knew it was going to be a difficult game and that I’d be man-marked for 90 minutes,” said the Roma man.

“We have to work, especially on our possession play. These are things you get better at with time.”

The match was suspended for 10 minutes due to Croatia fans throwing flares on to the field.

“It wasn’t a good thing to see,” added De Rossi. “It was a regular game on the field, but unfortunately I don’t know how everything seems to get into the stadiums.”
