The defender emphasised the strength of the Giallorossi's rearguard in an interview with Roma Radio, as he highlighted the traits of his fellow stoppers.

“Castan has quality and an enviable temperament on the pitch. Manolas amazed me with the personality he adopts on the pitch,” he considered.

“Mapou is the latest arrival and most physically imposing, as he is very aggressive. My quality is that I know the Italian league best and can integrate with everyone.”

Astori also addressed the Press reaction to the punch he received from current teammate Destro, when he came up against the striker as a Cagliari player in April.

“I do not remember that game [Cagliari lost 3-1]! I made peace with Destro, and it was exploited by the media.”

On the topic of returning to his native Bergamo one day, Astori replied: “Let's say that it's always nice [to talk about it].

“I left my childhood and family behind there, and it's a place that I keep close to my heart.”
