Italy Coach Antonio Conte confirmed Palermo’s Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala “interests us a great deal.”

Dybala also has an Italian passport and has not made his senior debut for Argentina, so would be eligible for the Azzurri.

“He is a player who interests us a great deal,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia after a visit to the Palermo training ground.

“We must find out if he would also be interested in the Nazionale.”

Dybala turned 21 last week and has been playing for Palermo since July 2012, but really hit form this season with five goals in 12 games.

“In theory he could play with the Azzurri, but I spoke to him and I get the idea he wants to play for Argentina,” Palermo Vice-President Guglielmo Miccichè told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“That doesn’t rule out the possibility that, if he received a call from Conte, he could talk to family and agent before making a decision.

“I am sure he will soon be called up by one of the two national teams.”
