“This is going to be a difficult game against a side that was unlucky to lose against Roma and over the last two away fixtures earned impressive draws,” said the Coach.

“Atalanta have the kind of characteristics that can cause us problems and it could be tough for us. They haven’t scored many goals, but players of that level will break through eventually.

“At this moment the game has to be considered a huge opportunity and we want to make the most of it.”

Empoli are coming off two consecutive victories that took them clear of the danger zone.

“We are not safe now, just as we weren’t relegated two weeks ago. I just hope these two wins don’t lower the concentration levels, because we cannot afford to give just 99 per cent.

“Recent victories must not affect our attitude.”

It will be an all-Empoli crowd at the Stadio Castellani today, as Atalanta fans begin their three-month ban for away fixtures.
