“On paper we are the underdogs, but the strongest teams do not always win,” warned Mihajlovic in a Press conference.

“After all, last week we dropped two points against Cesena and Cagliari, while we could’ve equalised with Inter.

“We proved that we are two different teams, home and away, so I told my lads that a squad with real grit has one face, like real men do. This is why, with all due respect to Napoli, tomorrow I want to win back the two points we lost at Cesena.

“To achieve this we need determination, efficiency and to be clinical in front of goal. What I can assure is that tomorrow an angry and ferocious Sampdoria will step on to the field. If that’s not the case, I will make sure the players do not have an enjoyable week…”

Napoli threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Cagliari last week and have been very shaky at the back.

“We all know Napoli’s attacking potential, as they have the most chances created and shots on target of any team in Italy,” continued Mihajlovic.

“However, they also have some weak points that we’ve been working on. We tried two different systems in training, so we’ll see tomorrow which one can cause them the most problems.

“Sergio Romero will start in goal, but for the rest of the line-up I have one doubt per section of the team.”

There have been consistent reports that Samp striker Manolo Gabbiadini will be the subject of a €10m January offer from Napoli.

“These lads are professionals and I doubt the transfer rumours can distract them. If anything, they could be even more motivated.”
