Maurizio Sarri believes Empoli have extra reasons to be happy with their Coppa Italia victory over Genoa.
The Tuscans swept through to the Round of 16 with a 2-0 win and will face Roma next month.
“We fielded an alternative formation that played well and deserves great respect,” Sarri told Rai Sport.
“Now I am aware that I have some extra weapons in my armoury that I can count on. Going to the Olimpico against Roma is a reward these lads have earned.”

Empoli have also improved their form recently in Serie A and climbed to 13th place.
“Safety is still a mirage for us and we cannot change objective after 10 positive days, just as we didn’t assume we’d get relegated after three consecutive defeats.”
