Milan are facing a new emergency at the back as Ignazio Abate, Mattia De Sciglio and Alex are set to skip the game against Genoa.

The Rossoneri are currently sitting sixth in Serie A and have an opportunity to overtake their fourth-placed rivals in the next game, as the distance between them is only two points.

However Coach Filippo Inzaghi is confronted with a string of injuries that deprive him of three of his defensive men.

The Gazzetta dello Sport suggest there is much pessimism at Milanello to recover Abate, De Sciglio and Alex in time for Sunday’s afternoon trip.

SuperPippo is seen as likely to have to field a similar defence to the one he played against Udinese in Week 13, with Daniele Bonera and Pablo Armero on the sides, and Adil Rami next to Philippe Mexes as central defenders.

Milan are also facing injury trouble in the midfield, as Sulley Muntari's condition is still uncertain, and Nigel de Jong has only just returned to training after being sidelined for a muscle strain.

Riccardo Montolivo should be fit to play, though it is uncertain if he will start.
