Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon has confirmed the club are interested in Manolo Gabbiadini, calling the striker ‘very interesting’.

Reports yesterday indicated that the Partenopei had agreed a deal to bring the Sampdoria hitman to San Paolo for €11m plus €2m in bonuses.

Bigon refused to confirm or deny whether an agreement had been reached for the forward – who is co-owned by Juventus – but did admit the Neapolitan side are interested.

“We’re forced to look for someone in attack because of the unfortunate injury to [Lorenzo] Insigne,” the sporting director admitted to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“We hadn’t planned for this kind of move, but these things happen in football.

“Gabbiadini is very interesting, not just for us, but for many other clubs too.

“The important thing for us is to have a variety of opportunities at this stage, when the transfer window opens we’ll try to acquire the most realistic targets.

“We have a number of interesting options to look at, not just with Sampdoria. Sometimes you have to wait to make decisive moves.”
