Lazio President Claudio Lotito has denied reports that Miroslav Klose is unhappy at the club.

Klose has spoken this week of his dissatisfaction at a lack of playing time, and didn’t play any part in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia win over Varese – with Coach Stefano Pioli saying the German was injured.

The speculation has reached such a level that club President Claudio Lotito has released a statement denying the rumours.

“I reject in the strongest possible terms the media speculation which has emerged in recent days concerning the climate of tension created by the non-use of Miroslav Klose, during the Italian Cup match against Varese,” Lotito is reported as saying by Laziosiamonoi.

“This is a delusion and a fantasy that will have no effect on a squad whose sole aim is to get the next three points and move toward European qualification.

“We want to win, for Tommaso Maestrelli too, whose family I would like to express my solidarity with on the anniversary of his death.

“I join together with our fans in celebrating the indelible memory of an extraordinary character who will always be in all our hearts.

“A father, a maestro, that in his role as a Coach dragged SS Lazio to that coveted, unexpected first Scudetto.

“Next Sunday against Parma we have to win for him.”
