Roma defender Leandro Castan has “no neurological complications” after brain surgery and will watch the Sassuolo game.

The Brazilian went under the knife on Wednesday in an extremely delicate operation to remove a cavernoma – a cluster of abnormal vessels – from his brain.

“Leandro Castan continues to make a good recovery after his operation,” read a statement released this evening.

“Leandro Castan continues to make a good recovery after his operation,” read a statement released this evening.

“The player is already on his feet and has taken a few steps. There are no neurological complications and the prognosis is good. Leandro will watch his team-mates in action tomorrow as Roma play Sassuolo.”

The 28-year-old already left the intensive care unit on Thursday, but is not expected to play again this season.
