“Sassuolo will play our game too. I ask for more consistency in attitude and performance. I see Roma as the absolute favourites, as along with Juventus they are practically in their own League, but Sassuolo aren’t beaten before we even start.”

The Neroverdi are on a club record seven-round unbeaten Serie A run and they are the only top flight team Francesco Totti has never scored against.

“Totti could well score, the important thing is that we bring home a positive result,” replied his former Roma teammate Di Francesco.

“Joking aside, Totti is an extraordinary player and he certainly doesn’t need a goal against us to know that.”

Francesco Magnanelli is suspended in midfield, while Thomas Manfredini and Gianluca Pegolo remain sidelined.

“Missiroli and Chibsah are the possible alternatives to Magnanelli, but I haven’t decided yet.”
