“Last season it was a fantastic game in a top level stadium where everyone wants to do well,” the Coach told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Milan have quality in every area of the pitch and many fast strikers. We are strong on the wings and will try to attack the space to create problems, taking men on in those areas.”

There have been reports this week that Torres could leave his two-year Milan loan early for a return to old club Liverpool, or a reunion with Benitez at Napoli.

“Torres is a top level player who did very well with me at Liverpool. He needs confidence and in my view can make the difference in any team.

“Gabbiadini? He is still owned by another club, but he has quality. We have to wait a little bit before we can talk about him.”

Napoli have the chance to be drawn against Liverpool in the Europa League, a blast from the past for Benitez.

“I’d like that and I’d get to see many old friends. But then one of the two would have to be eliminated and Liverpool are in my heart. Maybe in the Final!

“Inzaghi? I want to win every game, though of course a challenge against a Coach who did well against me as a player means even more.”

Napoli were lambasted after a series of spectacular home draws against Cagliari, Palermo and Empoli, so the stadium was almost empty in Thursday’s 3-0 Europa League win over Slovan Bratislava.

“When this Napoli achieves something impressive, it is treated as normal. When we don’t get a result, everyone points the finger of blame. We are always in the sights of critics and this pushes us on to do better.

“It’s not easy to find character and confidence. It depends on the players and the experience they have at the highest level. Not all my players realise that every game and every victory can give a lot of self-belief.

“This team has to look only at itself. If we do what we are capable of, then we can finish third or even better. I have faith in this side and in the second half of the season we’ll improve.

“Higuain needs to understand he is our most important player and must be the flag-bearer for our team, dragging the rest along with him. He has the capabilities to do that.”
