Luca Toni celebrated “the perfect day” after his 300th career goal helped Verona win 2-1 at Udinese.

“I am so happy, because this goal was crucial for us to pick up points too,” Toni told reporters at the Stadio Friuli.

“We had been playing well recently, but not getting the results we deserved. We went behind today, but fought back to get the victory.

“It was certainly the perfect day for me. Every goal has its special flavour, from those with Modena in Serie C to the World Cup strikes or those in Germany. I can’t choose my favourite.

“This achievement gives me great joy. I want to do well at Verona, then at the end of the season we’ll see what to do in future.”

The veteran hitman will turn 38 in May 2015.
