Fullback Patrice Evra says Juventus should have 'closed the game' in the first half, but now they must look forward.

The Bianconeri were held to a 1-1 draw against Sampdoria this Sunday at the Juventus Stadium. Among the protagonists of the game was French fullback Evra, who scored the opener on a corner kick.

“I dedicate the goal to my sister Annette who is not very well,” said the Bianconero defender. “Also to my physiotherapist Marco Luison who helped me through a time that wasn't easy.”

After the game, Mihajlovic had complained about Evra's goal saying that “you can't take goals like that from a player 160cm tall.”

“Actually I'm 174cm,” the 33-year-old specified. “That was a dead-ball dynamic that we practiced many times.

“I'm not very tall, but even in Manchester I often scored on corner kicks.

“But we have the regret of not having closed the game in the first half. If we'd made the 2-0 we would have managed to take all three points.

“That's why I say I'm disappointed, you can't play so well in the first half and end up with a draw.

“The most important thing now is to concentrate on Thursday, we must find success again.”

As for today's Champions League draw, Evra is not worried.

“I'm not afraid of any opponent,” he said. “The only team that scares me is Juventus.”

Juventus play Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia this Thursday, and they will know their adversary for the Champions League today at 11:00 GMT.
