Italy CT Antonio Conte has dismissed suggestions that he could quit the Azzurri after just months in the job.

The former Juventus Coach took up the national team position in the summer after Cesare Prandelli’s resignation, but there had been reports that the Coach could quit over broken promises.

However, after a meeting with the 20 Serie A club Coaches today, Conte dispelled the rumours.

“I made a commitment to people that I would try my best in an enthusiastic way,” Conte asserted in a Press conference after the meeting.

“I made a commitment to the Italian people, they’ve given me a huge responsibility. It’s not possible [that I’ll resign].”

The Azzurri boss also spoke about his relationship with his club colleagues, insisting that he understands their position.

“It’s important for us to have a closer relationship, both for them and for me.

“The players are an asset to the clubs and the national team, we try to work as closely as possible based on transparency and civility.

“Four months ago I was sitting on the other side, I was the Coach of a club. I know what Coaches are thinking, what goes through their head.

“It’s what passed through my head four months ago.

“We’ve tried to establish a relationship, and everyone made themselves available.”
