Parma director general Pietro Leonardi admits “the team has suffered” during extended takeover talks, but can now focus.

The club was formally sold this evening to Cypriot-Russian investors Dastraso Holding Ltd with new President Fabio Giordano, while Leonardi will remain in his current role.

“The team has suffered and the players were anxious about this situation,” he explained in a Press conference.

“I shared my ideas with the new owners and the evolution of this situation from May to today has given me an incredible desire to lift the club back up.

“I thank the new owners for putting their faith in me. Only Giordano knows how much I wanted this change to go through for the good of the team and the city, who I have seen suffering.

“I had put myself at the disposal of the club in any capacity to resolve this situation. If we are bottom of the table then the fault is also mine and I’ll give my all to the last breath to give the fans what they deserve.

“That’s starting from the January transfer window. I think it is only right and my duty to give all of myself for this cause.”
