Rafa Benitez may leave Napoli this summer for family reasons and insufficient resources, but Aurelio De Laurentiis still hopes to keep him.

In spite of the club’s recent victory over Juventus for the Italian Supercup, the future of the Spanish Coach is still the subject of significant discussion.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Benitez is longing for his wife and his children, who still reside in Liverpool.

Furthermore, the publication reports that should the Coach remain at the San Paolo beyond June, he would like to finish his project by winning the Scudetto and has asked for certainties from the club.

In spite of these hurdles, De Laurentiis was published today by the Corriere dello Sport as sporting an optimistic outlook.

“Benitez is the right man for Napoli,” said the football and cinema mogul. “I hope he stays with us.”

While De Laurentiis was not explicit about meeting the demands of Benitez, he did hint that the next mercato window would be about reinforcing the team.

“Selling players? Not at all. This is where the reinforcements will arrive.”

The Napoli President is also reported by the Gazzetta as aspiring to bring the Benitez’s family to Naples, alongside committing the Spaniard to a long-term deal, but apparently that route looks unlikely.
