Milan and Ignazio Abate have reached an agreement for a renewal of the player's contract for another three seasons, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has been in talks with the club over a renewal since the summer, with his current deal up for expiry in June 2015.

Whilst delays over a new contract had pushed speculation of a possible exit, the Corriere dello Sport reports today that an agreement has been reached to keep the Italy international at San Siro.

Seen as committing the club and player together for a further three seasons, it is understood that an official announcement could be made as early as Wednesday or Thursday.

That is expected to come from Vice-President Adriano Galliani, when Alessio Cerci is presented to the Press.
