“The first time I returned to Florence as a Palermo player it was like a party,” said Coach Iachini in his Press conference.
“Those were different times, many years have passed, but I have to say it’s always emotional coming back here. I was appreciated as an athlete and as a person.”
Now the Rosanero are on an all-time club record nine-round unbeaten run in the top flight and fresh from beating Cagliari 5-0.
“Palermo are unpredictable and that is something we had achieved last year in Serie B too. The idea was to carry on the same principles and mentality in Serie A, albeit with opponents who are of another level in terms of organisation.
“We have improved a great deal in passing, possession and depth, not to mention patience. Those are elements that are fundamental for my teams.
“Last week I said we were at 85-90 per cent of our capabilities, but we can still improve on the edge of the box. In certain areas it is crucial to wait and think passes through rather than playing one-touch football.
“We are working on that a great deal in training, as at times Dybala and Vazquez played too many times with their first touch. Now they think about the final pass carefully.”
