Roberto Donadoni concedes Parma “were punished for naive mistakes” against Sampdoria, but expects reinforcements.

The Ducali remain rooted to the foot of the table after today’s 2-0 home defeat.

“Above all in the second half, we were simply too passive,” Donadoni told Rai Sport.

“In the first period we were able to challenge them, but then we conceded the goal due to a naive error and the second was avoidable too.

“We lacked the fight to react and give a sense of consistency to our Coppa Italia performance midweek. Despite fielding seven out of XI who had fresh legs, they didn’t have that impulse.

“It would’ve been really important to get two wins in a row.”

At the midway stage of the season, Parma are already nine points adrift of the safety zone. Can they get out of this situation?

“Clearly it is difficult, but we have 12 days left to do something on the transfer market. I am convinced the club will try to fix some of these issues, as we need new faces and new blood.

“We’ll try to do everything possible, but if we continue to not pick up points then it’ll be more complicated as time goes on. It is our duty to try to the end.”
