Pippo Inzaghi said “the three points were fundamental” against Parma, so Milan can wait to play better football.

This 3-1 result was their first Serie A victory of 2015 and took the Rossoneri up to joint eighth place alongside Genoa.

“This was a complicated game, as I knew it would be with eight or nine absentees. At the moment we are getting negative results as well as injuries,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We wanted this victory at all costs, I think it is deserved and now we hope to get some players back for Saturday. We then also hope to play a little better as time goes on.

“When you are without seven or eight first choice players and coming off a difficult period, it becomes tricky.

“Zaccardo never played this season, but always trained hard and today not only did well, but also got a goal. This attitude is what I expected from the squad. We must get back to being the team that got results against Juve, Roma and Napoli.”

Milan signed Mattia Destro, Salvatore Bocchetti and Luca Antonelli this week, while Gabriel Paletta will join from Parma tomorrow.

“There have been some very important new buys and I have to thank the President for giving me the players I asked for.”

The crowd at San Siro jeered when Inzaghi replaced striker Destro with defensive midfielder Sulley Muntari.

“It’s only normal that people want more, we all do, but I think the fans will be happy with the hunger they saw tonight. As the banner requested, 11 lions.

“I think 4-3-3 has given us some good games until the start of the new year. Now with strikers like Destro, Pazzini and Menez, I thought we could change to 4-4-2. A player like Bonaventura can give you the right balance.

“It is also only natural that coming off such a difficult period the team makes mistakes due to tension and lack of confidence. Those who played tonight gave their all and deserved to win. Of course I want to play better football, but the fundamental thing was to get three points, especially in these circumstances.

“Now we will prepare Saturday’s match against the best team in Italy, Juventus.”

Inzaghi was asked when he knew that he would not be fired despite the recent dire results.
“I never had any doubts. I know that I am respected and cared for here, so they will let me work. Everyone knew I couldn’t change everything straight away. I will try to get Milan back to their best, but it’s not an easy task.

“I live for Milan and give all of myself, that is why I have a clear conscience.”
