The 32-year-old striker had already played for the Grifone twice before in 2007-08 and again in 2012-13.
He found the net 31 times in 65 games with Genoa and is hoping to rediscover his form at Marassi.
His other clubs were West Ham, Juventus, Sampdoria, Empoli, Treviso, Reggina and Milan.
