“Inter fans should trust me, even if I understand they are downhearted,” said Mancio in his Press conference.
“Despite the negative moment we are in, there are still some positives and sooner or later the results will come. In football, unfortunately, when things go wrong it’s not easy to change them quickly.
“I don’t think the fans will ever be a problem and they have the right to jeer. We accept everything, without getting too downbeat or over the top. It takes balance in all things.”
There was particular criticism of captain Ranocchia after the last-gasp goal conceded to Napoli from a throw-in.
“We all win together and lose together, plus the error on Higuain’s goal was a collective one. It’s not important any more. I am sure the fans will give Ranocchia and all the players a great reception.
“We are working for the future, but also the present. We cannot think two or three bad results mean everything else has to be thrown out. We must resist even in moments of difficulty.
“I told the fans that past success also counts now, but if the results don’t come then I’m going to get criticised too. We must soak up all this pressure to become stronger.
“We face a Palermo side that plays good football, has a great strike force and above all has nothing to lose. We must be perfect in order to beat them tomorrow. We are trying to become a real team, despite the difficulties.”
Mancini also discussed tactics, hinting there should be “no problem” in Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozovic playing together, while Lukas Podolski and Rodrigo Palacio are not 100 per cent fit.
