Milan full-back Mattia De Sciglio admits his season is probably over as he doesn’t “want to risk relapses.”

The 22-year-old made only 13 Serie A appearances this season and has been diagnosed with severe plantar fasciitis with a lesion to the sole of the foot.

“Unfortunately my lay-off will be a pretty long one, a relapse of the inflammation I had a while back under the foot,” he told Milan Channel.

“It requires a bit of patience. This time I want to come back on the field only when I am 100 per cent, so I don’t want to risk relapses.”

The Rossoneri could really do with his support at the moment, winning just one Serie A game in 2015.

“I think the new entries have settled in straight away, as they’ve been playing at top levels for years and can give us a big hand.

“The team looks relaxed, despite the fact everyone is disappointed at the way the season is going. We expected more, but are concentrated and eager to get back on track so we can end the campaign in the best way.”
