Gigi Buffon said Milan’s protest over Juventus replays was “bizarre, the kind of thing only Italians can do.”

The Rossoneri released statements accusing Juve of withholding replays of Carlos Tevez and then placing non-parallel lines to suggest he was not offside on the opening goal.

“It was fantastic – they created controversy around a correct decision,” laughed Buffon on Sky Sport Italia.

The Rossoneri released statements accusing Juve of withholding replays of Carlos Tevez and then placing non-parallel lines to suggest he was not offside on the opening goal.

“It was fantastic – they created controversy around a correct decision,” laughed Buffon on Sky Sport Italia.

“The only mistake in that game was the corner that led to Milan’s goal, which should not have been given. I see nobody cares about that, as is probably only right.

“It was certainly a bizarre controversy, the kind of thing only Italians can do. It helps you understand our nature, which is to stir up controversy and protest at everything.

“We even managed to create controversy around what was not a refereeing error at all. It was the correct decision!

“In my view, this also gives even more strength to Juve’s victories, because when they get to this point, you realise it’s all done for a reason.”
