“We knew that this would be complicated, but we’ve got the situation in hand and are already at an advanced stage,” Manenti told Rete Sport.

“The squad is relaxed and made up of real professionals. We talked and the lads realised we took the club in a delicate moment, but will try to achieve a miracle. I think we can do it.

“Now we are coming up to some important deadlines. Then we’ll see if the situation is still being described as ‘disastrous’ or not.

“I was prompted to take this step by enthusiasm and affection for football. We think that we have some innovative ideas which you will see in future.

“Roberto Donadoni was the Italy Coach and let’s not forget he is the added value for this Parma. We never considered any other Coach, as we want to go forward with him.

“The objective is to take Parma back to the highest level. Of course football is strange, as you can have the most expensive squad and finish fifth, or have a mediocre team and finish third.”
