Bologna have been deducted one point and their former President is banned after failure to pay income tax.

The Rossoblu are second in Serie B, but will now be seven points behind leaders Carpi, with Livorno now just a point behind in third.

The sanction was levied against the club after former President Albano Guaraldi failed to pay income tax owed, and the club will now have 44 points.

Guaraldi was handed a three month ban from football activities for the same offence.

According to Corriere di Bologna, the club is likely to appeal, with new owner Joey Saputo having 30 days to lodge an official challenge.

Meanwhile, Lega Pro sides Mantova and Reggina have also been given points deductions, with the former losing two points, and the latter one.
