Stefano Colantuono explained his dismissal and felt Atalanta again failed to get the points they deserved with Juventus.

The Orobici had taken the lead in Turin and were in front for 14 minutes – more than any other team against Juve in Serie A this season – but eventually lost 2-1.

“It was a great performance, as it was against Fiorentina and in the first half against Inter,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

The Orobici had taken the lead in Turin and were in front for 14 minutes – more than any other team against Juve in Serie A this season – but eventually lost 2-1.

“It was a great performance, as it was against Fiorentina and in the first half against Inter,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We played well for those three games and emerged empty-handed, but if we continue playing like this then we can achieve our objectives this season.

“Atalanta almost always struggled to stay in Serie A. That wasn’t the case in recent years and hopefully we can put together a run of wins this term. The fixture list hasn’t been helpful with Fiorentina, Inter and Juventus in a row.

“We must continue playing with this determination and hunger, knowing our limitations and our strengths.”

With Maxi Moralez injured and Mauricio Pinilla suspended, Colantuono moved Daniele Baselli into a more advanced position.

“Baselli played in the Maxi Moralez role and I’d been thinking about that for a while, as he helps the midfield and can also push forward on goal.”

Goalkeeper Marco Sportiello kept the scoreline down with more sensational saves.

“He has to keep working like this, as he has the potential for a luminous career. It only depends on him.”

Colantuono was sent off from the touchline following a row with the Juve team manager.

“It was stupid, really. I sent my fitness coach to check on Dramé, who had cramp, but on his way back the Juventus team manager went to complain and the Fourth Official sent him off.

“I replied with perhaps an ungentlemanly term that it was not a Juve-style thing to do. We’d already lost one player to injury, it seemed normal enough for us to send the fitness coach over.”
