Cesena boss Mimmo Di Carlo mocked the late Milan penalty and believed the Sea Horses deserved a lot more.

It ended 2-0 at San Siro with Giacomo Bonaventura and a very late Giampaolo Pazzini penalty for a soft Carlos Carbonero push on Luca Antonelli.

“What foul? It looks to me as if he fell over by himself,” Di Carlo told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’ve seen much bigger penalties not awarded, but the referee decided to give this one to Milan. Never mind.

“We didn’t do that well in the first half, yet Christian Abbiati performed a stunning save to keep the result safe.
“When you play against Juve it means using up a lot of energy, so we needed time to recharge the batteries.

“In the second half we had two or three chances to not only equalise, but also go in front, while Milan were reduced to counter-attacks and that penalty.

“We paid a heavy price for mistakes, but we proved Cesena are alive and kicking. Gregoire Defrel and Franco Brienza have the quality to change a game with unpredictable passes and great vision.

“Defrel often looks like he’s slowing down, but then steps on the gas and causes opponents huge problems.”

Naturally, he was asked about the crisis at Parma, as it seems increasingly likely the team won’t be able to finish the season.

If that is true, all future fixtures will be handed 3-0 to Parma’s opponents.

“That would falsify the campaign as far as we’re concerned. We’ve already played Parma, whereas all the other teams we are trying to catch up to will get points on a plate.

“Obviously everyone hopes Parma can finish the season and continue to play their football.”
