Stefano Colantuono felt Atalanta were “hit hard psychologically” by Sampdoria’s equaliser and went on to lose.

Guglielmo Stendardo had put the hosts in front and they seemed in absolute control until Luis Muriel drew level, then Stefano Okaka turned the game around for a 2-1 result.

“In the first half we pushed hard and could’ve scored a second goal, continuing that after the break,” Colantuono told Sky Sport Italia.

“In these games, if you leave it open for long enough, your opponents will equalise and that’s what happened.

“We were hit hard psychologically by that first goal and it’s a shame, as we could’ve got back on our feet and earned important points.”

Atalanta’s next match is supposed to be against Parma, who cancelled their last two Serie A games and don’t look likely to improve their financial crisis any time soon.

“We will prepare as if we were to play and then we’ll see what happens.”
