Federico Mattiello’s agent says his client bears no ill-will to Radja Nainggolan, despite breaking his leg in a collision with the Roma man.

The on-loan Juventus man went into a challenge with the Belgian midfielder during the draw between the two sides yesterday, and came off far worse, breaking his tibia and fibula.

The 19-year-old had surgery last night which was a success, and his representative assures he doesn’t blame Nainggolan for what happened.

“I got to talk to the lad by text this morning, he’s fine,” Andrea Pastorello assured Calciomercato.

“He’s clearly very upset and angry, but he’ll finish the season with his teammates.

“Nainggolan? He’s a player who goes in hard, it’s true, but Federico has never been one to pull out of a challenge. It’s not his fault, these things can happen, unfortunately.

“Mattiello knows that, he has no resentment, he’s shown great maturity. He appreciated that the Roma player has reached out several times, and not only him.

“We can only be happy with the affection we’ve received at this time.”

Pastorello then talked about the youngster’s prognosis, and says he’ll be back for the start of next season.

“We decided to operate last night, not because there were complications, but simply because conditions were favourable, and allowed us to operate right away.

“As for his recovery, I can’t say anything about the timing. Amongst the misfortune, there’s the comfort that it was a broken bone rather than involving joints such as the ankle or knee.

“I’m convinced Federico will be ready for the start of next season.”

Meanwhile, the player himself has tweeted a photo from his hospital bed, thanking people for their support.
