Stefano Pioli felt Lazio’s 4-0 demolition job on Fiorentina was “almost a perfect evening.”

This was their fourth consecutive victory and put them joint third in the table with Napoli, just four points adrift of Roma.

“It was a perfect evening. Actually, there’s no such thing as a perfect performance in football, so let’s say almost perfect,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“The team interpreted the game well and it was a show of maturity from my lads. They passed the test against a side with a lot of quality like Fiorentina.

“We have to face everyone with this spirit, so numbers or systems mean nothing compared to spirit. We are satisfied, but also aware there’s a long road ahead.

“Can we challenge for second place? The table is very tight up there, so we have to take it one game at a time.”

Miroslav Klose continued his impressive form with a brace this evening.

“At the start of the season he was not in great shape, but Miro proved all the critics wrong by proving he’s still a great striker. It’s a pleasure to train someone like him, as he’s an example that helped everyone improve.

“This squad has been working well since the start of the season. Now we’ve got to keep our heads down and carry on pushing.

“It will take a Lazio side at the top of its game to beat Torino.”

Antonio Candreva won’t be taking part in that match, as his yellow card for taking off his shirt means he’ll be suspended.

“The rule of booking a player for taking off his jersey is unfair, but then it’s better to do that than run towards the fans and hit your knee!”

Candreva had to limp off during last week’s win over Palermo, as in celebrating the goal he slipped and clattered knee-first into a metal gate.
