Roberto Mancini reveals “Yaya Toure wants to play in Italy and Inter would be his first choice.”

The midfielder was brought in to Manchester City by Mancini and there have been numerous reports they could reunite at San Siro.

“Yaya has played in every top League, apart from Germany and Italy,” Mancio told Gazzetta TV this evening.

“If, as it does indeed seem, he wants to have an experience in Italy, then there is this possibility he could come here.

“It won’t be easy, but he’s a player with incredible technique and character. Would Inter be his first choice? That’s certain.”

Toure isn’t the only ex-Manchester City figure Mancini was interested in, as he confirmed rumours Inter tried to sign Micah Richards from Fiorentina in January.

“We did try to get him, as he was my player at City. Fiorentina seemed open to it, but the move didn’t go through.

“We laid the foundations at City. The club had been challenging for between 15th and 10th place, so they needed a lot of quality players brought in. If they’re still fighting for the title now, it means we constructed a quality side.

“England was good for me, because compared to us Italians they take football much less seriously. It was a great experience and really helped me. It’s always cold there, so it’s easy to stay young…”

Inter brought in Xherdan Shaqiri, Davide Santon, Marcelo Brozovic and Lukas Podolski, but UEFA could put a spanner in the works.

“Now we’ll see what happens with the Financial Fair Play situation. I am convinced, and so is the club, that we will sign good players who can lift the quality level of the team.”

The tactician joked when asked if the club had given him ‘carte blanche’ for transfers.

“Yes, but they forget the pen!”
