Vincenzo Montella says he 'doesn't trust' Roma ahead of Fiorentina's Europa League Last 16 clash against them.

La Viola and the Lupi will be up for an Italian derby tomorrow at 8.05pm UK time, with the first leg played in Florence.

The Giallorossi appear less threatening now than they did in the first half of the season, but their former striker and Coach, who will be on the opposite bench tomorrow, doesn’t believe it.

“I don't trust the Giallorossi, as they have a team of the highest level which was built to win the Scudetto,” Montella has expressed in today's Press conference.

“They've been playing better in their away games and the players' desire to vindicate themselves could make the difference.

“We'll need to play a strategic game against Roma. Our adversary calls for that.”

Fiorentina walk into the European game after a calamitous 4-0 defeat to third-place rivals Lazio last Monday, but Montella didn't seem overly bothered.

“The same thing happened to Atletico Madrid last year – they were defeated after a string of victories.

“It happens in football. It's a shame, but we're looking ahead.

“They were better than us, regardless of any absences we may have had in our squad.

“But we know how to lift ourselves back up. Our team always wants to win, especially after a poor result.”
