Vincenzo Montella assured “it’s still wide open” after Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw with Roma. “It’s a shame to concede at home.”

The Viola had taken the lead through Josip Ilicic and Norberto Neto saved an Adem Ljajic penalty, but Seydou Keita was allowed a free header on a corner.

“It’s a shame to concede at home, but Roma did well to make the most of the corner,” Montella told Mediaset Premium.

In the Europa League, that away goal could prove decisive for next week’s second leg at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I thought Fiorentina deserved more, especially in the first half, and we should’ve been more determined. We have some regrets, but it’s still wide open.

“We struggled after losing David Pizarro, but I don’t think Roma ever really dominated us. We believe it is still open.”

The Ljajic penalty had been a contentious decision, as Neto appeared to get the ball.

“They can make mistakes in Europe too. I don’t like talking about referees and never have done. It’s a mistake, it can happen, let’s move on.”
