“Sampdoria are a good side, very physical and give away a lot of free kicks. They try to stop your attacking moves from the start.

“They’ve been doing well all season, brought in some new forwards during the January window and their Coach is sneaky.

“I mean that in a good way, of course. Sinisa Mihajlovic said Adem Ljajic ought to be more egotistical, so perhaps tomorrow hoping he won’t pass the ball to a teammate…”

The fixture comes in-between a Europa League Round of 16 tie with Fiorentina, as the first leg ended 1-1 at the Stadio Franchi on Thursday.

“I am not thinking about Thursday and I do not want any questions about Fiorentina,” said the Coach.

“Tomorrow we will have options for a competitive squad, as we always have done throughout the campaign.

“Every player is important for me. I don’t just have Gervinho in attack, as others like Victor Ibarbo and Seydou Doumbia are on their way back to fitness.

“I prefer to have choices and the ability to pick a line-up I consider ideal for that particular match.”

Francesco Totti missed the Europa League game due to injury, but took part in the full training session today and is available.

Daniele De Rossi made a costly error in that match and went off with a sprained ankle, but his performance raised questions on whether he’ll go to the MLS next season.

“Daniele is a great champion, he is still young and can play in multiple roles. He got a pass wrong and picked up an injury. It happens. Nothing changes in my eyes,” insisted Garcia.

“He will help us a great deal in future. And for the future I do not just mean the rest of this season.

“Are we lacking leadership? We replied to that question on the pitch. You don’t fight back for a draw against Juventus when down to 10 men if you don’t have leaders. The same is true of our result with Fiorentina after two injuries and a missed penalty.”

Roma have an undeniable issue at the Stadio Olimpico, notching up a series of stalemates in Serie A and Europe.

“We must get back to winning in front of our fans, in front of the Curva Sud, as it is an honour to play there. All negative streaks have an ending.”
