“I am really annoyed and it’s a shame, as the teams in front of us are struggling and we can’t seem to close up on them,” Ranocchia told Sky Sport Italia.

“There are another 10 rounds and we have to target third place. We had so many chances and were unable to put them in the net, while at the back we concede with every mistake.

“Now we must turn this anger into positive energy on Thursday, as it will be the game of a lifetime.”

Inter lost the first leg 3-1 to Wolfsburg, so is it tougher to progress in the Europa League or finish in the top three of Serie A?

“They are both difficult, but not impossible.”
