It’s reported that Roma President James Pallotta met with Spalletti in Miami on Friday evening to discuss a possible return to the Olimpico.

Spalletti had also been linked with the Milan and Napoli benches, with Sportitalia also claiming Aurelio De Laurentiis has previously spoken to the tactician.

He will be out of contract on June 30, though he was sacked by Zenit St Petersburg a year ago.

It would be a comeback for Spalletti, who was much-loved at Roma from 2005 to 2009, lifting the Italian Super Cup and two editions of the Coppa Italia.

He resigned and terminated the contract by mutual consent in September 2009 due to disagreements with the club over transfer strategy.

Spalletti joined Zenit in December 2009, winning two consecutive League titles, the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup, but was sacked in March 2014.
