On a foggy night in northern Italy, the pilot of the Fiat G.212 which was carrying the team back from Italy lost his bearings, crashing into the hill of Superga.

There were no survivors, and today a monument on the back wall of the basilica commemorates that famous team.

Today’s Toro players had been due to welcome their Tuscan opponents to Stadio Olimpico on the anniversary of the tragedy, but the Lega Serie A has now confirmed the match will be played at 17.30 GMT the following day.
