The Corriere dello Sport calculates it would actually help Inter if they didn’t qualify for the Europa League.

The Nerazzurri are down in ninth position and only the top six can get into European competition next season.

However, missing out on these tournaments could well be a benefit for the club, who risk falling foul of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

The Corriere dello Sport has calculated that if Inter do qualify for Europe, they are likely to be fined €7m and see their squad limited to fewer than 25 players.

The Financial Fair Play ruling is expected in mid-April, but would be postponed if Inter don’t qualify for European competition next season.

It is also reported that President Erick Thohir will help balance the books by handing over €50m to the Nerazzurri in the form of a loan.

This would be similar to the system Roman Abramovich uses at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport also claims Thohir warned the players to “not bother booking a vacation” if they don’t qualify for Europe.
