The Azzurrini failed to replicate their strong performance against the Germans on Friday evening, and a red card for Domenico Berardi left the team unable to respond to Luka Milunovic's goal.

Di Biagio, interviewed after the game, was not forgiving of his team's performance.

Di Biagio, interviewed after the game, was not forgiving of his team's performance.

“We did not play well,” he said. “Our first half was poor.”

“It's something that can happen, we're not used to playing every three days. We must improve.

“The second half leaves room for hope, but we've got to do much better.

“Our reaction after the break was excellent, but we didn't do well when playing 11 versus 11.

“I'm much more worried about the first half. A draw wouldn't have been out of place, but I would have said the same thing, that we did not play well.”
