Andrea Mandorlini said Verona “could’ve played for two days and not scored” after their 3-0 defeat to Inter.

Hellas had more shots on and off target this evening, including a Luca Toni penalty.

“It was a strange game affected by that early goal where we were very naive. We could’ve played for two days and not scored, despite the numerous chances,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Inter didn’t do much, but we’ve conceded six goals in our last two games and therefore have to ask ourselves some questions.

“The points are what count in the end and it’s true we do concede too many goals. Our points tally is decent from last year and this, but admittedly defending isn’t our strong suit.”

The early Mauro Icardi goal saw Verona players caught out as they expected the referee to stop play for a Panagiotis Tachtsidis injury.

“We were naive. The referee has to stop play and until it happens you are meant to remain concentrated. We should’ve been more clinical throughout the game and not just in that incident.

“The half-time team talk clarified some ideas and we raised the tempo after the break. We could’ve got back into it with 20 minutes to go, but the big regret is not taking our chances.”
